The history of “Ladies Event” of the WSOP:
In 1977, the World Series of Poker, which was the 8th edition, began a new tradition that has continued until today. Friday, May 6 to 12h was kicked off the first tournament of the WSOP only reserved for women.
Since that day, the Ladies Event “has always remained the largest women’s tournament in the world. It has grown slowly and now has a field that is fully internationalized.
For 2009, the team of World Series of Poker has taken into account many suggestions from the players and professionals, to make further improvements’ Ladies Event. This year it will last three days, will include starting stacks of 3,000 chips and levels of an hour, with a maximum of ten levels in the disputed Day 1. The ‘Queens of Heart’ will be even more present: In addition to offering to pay a portion of their earnings, players can also purchase t-shirts and hats “Queens of Heart”. And the money raised will always be fully dedicated to research against cancer.
